The Artist Ray Miles


Before becoming a Professor at University of Massachusetts, Ray miles was a Police officer for the New York Police Department in the 60's a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division Fort Bragg, NC during the Korean War. Ray Miles also owned different businesses in New York before moving his family to Massachusetts in the early 70's. Ray Miles passed away in 1994. He is survied by 3 sons and 1 daughter.

Completed in the 70's, this piece was last seen at an art gallery in California.

W E B Debois Sculpture presented to Mrs Dubois


Mr Miles had the honor to present one of his scuptures to Mrs W.E.B Dubois wife in the Mid 70's. The presentation was also covered by Ebony Magazine.




University of Massachusetts Amherst has the largest W.E.B Dubois archives located in the UMass Library. Photo was taken at the New Africa House on the campus of UMass.

The Warlord


This Sculpture was finished in the mid 70's and has been on display at different Art gallaries in Western Massachusetts.
The Warlord now sits ideled in Oregon.
